Wellies & Dignity Bags for Syria
For several years now, Cuckfield has continued to generously support Samara’s Aid, an initiative started by one local mum to convey our love, and recognise the dignity, of human beings from whom so much has been taken by war.
At the coldest time of year both in the UK as well as Syria, our first appeal of the year has just started. The video above was taken just a couple of weeks ago in Deir Ez-zor. Some of these children have no shoes at all or just flip flops.
So, our main appeal this January is for children’s boots, shoes, and especially wellies, in excellent condition. We are also collecting Dignity Bags for women and girls (full details of what these should contain can be found here).
Please leave items in the church tower before Sunday 21st January, or call Ros Longfield to arrange collection (01444 457585).
If you feel able, please contribute £5-10 per bag of clothes, towards the costs of transporting your donations to the Middle East. It costs around £7,000 to send each lorry to Iraq, and Samara’s Aid has recently received an entire shipping container of valuable items, which cannot be shipped until those transport costs are raised. Donations of money can be left in the church office with Gill.
